It probably comes as no surprise that teenagers and young adults who have multiple sexual partners are significantly more likely to develop substance abuse disorders than those who have not had sex with more than one person. But, that is exactly what research tells us. One of the largest studies of multiple sexual partners and substance abuse was conducted at the University of Maryland by Donna E. Howard and associates. The study focused on 3, teenage girls who were sexually active. The study found that girls who have sex with more than one partner in a short period of time are likely to engage in other risk behaviors such as fighting, binge drinking, smoking cigarettes, using cocaine , or sniffing glue. Having sexual intercourse with multiple partners increases the risk of pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and resulting damage to reproductive health, the Maryland study found. Other studies have shown that girls are starting to have sex at younger ages, and an earlier start to sexual intercourse often leads to multiple sexual partner behavior. Besides fighting, drinking and substance abuse, girls with multiple sexual partners were also likely to have had unprotected sex the last time they had sexual intercourse, another dangerous behavior that compounds the risks of sex with many partners.

Myths about women's sexuality are continually refurbished and bought by the masses; old mores sold as shiny new tools to be hurled as weapons of control. So, bad news for the fella who tries to pick-up a lady because he thinks she's "easy" -- unless you are all that and a bag of chips or have serious A-game, odds are you'll go home solo Fact: Although evidence shows many women and men who have diagnosable disorders or emotional troubles tend to have frequent indiscriminate sex, having multiple sexual partners is a side-effect of their disorder not the cause.

There have been many articles written on this site about fidelity or lack thereof and on unraveling what society has told you in order to reveal the true nature and promiscuity of women. These are articles like:. But, unsettling by whose standards? Up until this point we have yet to fully cover why women want multiple partners. Human beings have always tried to claim dominion over nature. Throughout the ages we have tried to impose our will on the natural world and demonstrate that we have control over it:. These are all testaments to the great spirit and industriousness of mankind. However, through all of this creation, domination, and rational thinking, human beings have conveniently forgotten one all-important fact about ourselves: we are still animals. We exist because we are part of the ecosystem that is the natural world. We come out of it.
